Site Classes Suspended Beginning Tuesday, March 17

We are suspending all site classes, after-school electives and private lessons held at Cottonwood Creek Charter School until further notice.

As an independent study school, we will be transitioning our site-class instruction to weekly packets. We will operate with weekly instructional packets for the next few weeks until we receive information that will enable us to resume site classes.

Packets can be turned in and new packets picked up on Mondays from 7:45 am to 3:30 pm in your child's classroom. Please enter through the front entrance of the school. We are also asking that only one person per family come into the building to drop off and pick up.

The school office is closed. Please contact staff directly via email if you have any questions or concerns.

Please stay tuned for updates. As we receive more information from Shasta County Public Health and from Shasta County Office of Education, we will be passing that along to you.

Thank you for your support and patience during these difficult times.

Welcome!

We are a kindergarten - 8th grade public school chartered by the Cottonwood Union School District and we offer two educational options: site classes and homeschool. We have a wide variety of after-school electives to enrich learning. Our goal is to work with families to provide the best educational environment for every child.  horizontal snake logo

Update from Mr. Boyle

April 2, 2020

Dear Cottonwood Creek Charter School Families,

I wanted to give you an update from our school and provide some other important information.

First, I want to commend all our students and parents on how well you are doing with the pick-up and drop-off of homework packets. Two Mondays ago, our school had a 97.2% turn-in rate, but this past Monday we had a 98.6% turn-in rate! Impressive!!

I also want to remind families that next week is Spring Break. Spring Break begins this coming Monday, April 6 and continues through Monday, April 13. This means that the current homework packet your student is working on will not be turned in until Tuesday, April 14.

Many of you have read that the information we are getting from the California Department of Education is that in-class instruction will, more than likely, be suspended until the end of the school year. This is not finalized yet as we are hoping that we might get a few weeks back here on campus in May. But we have to plan and anticipate that what we are currently doing may, in fact, be the norm until summer break.

With that said, our school staff is currently working on expanding our on-line opportunities with virtual platforms such as Zoom. This past Tuesday, Mr. Bloom hosted an 8th grade talent show on Zoom. It was a huge success with close to twenty 8th graders participating. This Friday, Mrs. Clare will also be hosting a 7th grade talent show on Zoom. Also, last week Mr. McKinley utilized Voice Thread to deliver a science lesson. Our hope is that after Spring Break the majority of our staff will begin to introduce some virtual classroom options for students and their families.

I want to remind all students and parents that our school program is still in full operation. The only difference is that all classwork is being completed at home. This means that all weekly packets are required schoolwork and that work completion of these packets will determine attendance and grades.

I also wanted to provide some updates from Clarissa in the school office. Open enrollment for next year is proceeding as scheduled. Open Enrollment applications can be mailed to our address at: Cottonwood Creek Charter School, P.O. Box 1648, Cottonwood, CA 96022. Open Enrollment will continue through the end of April and we will accept all applications that are postmarked by April 30. We have changed the date and time of the lottery to Saturday, May 9 at 10 a.m. We are planning to hold the lottery outside on the front lawn and parents can stay in or next to their cars in the front parking lot during the lottery.

As a reminder, you can be in contact with your teacher though their email. If you have a message or question for Clarissa in the office, please phone and leave a message and she will return your call as soon as possible. You can also email Clarissa at cmcgowan@cwusd.com.

Finally, have a great Spring Break! WE MISS SEEING YOU SO VERY MUCH! Be safe! Stay strong! See you all soon!

Mr. Boyle
