Cottonwood Creek Charter School

Working Together With Families

Our History

In 2009, a core group of local educators and parents began to see the need for a quality charter school in South Shasta County. At the time, a number of local Cottonwood families were leaving their regular public schools and enrolling in charter/home school programs located in neighboring towns and counties.

As a result, the combined leadership of this founding core group began the undertaking of studying other successful charter schools in the Redding and Sacramento areas. What resulted was to the desire to create charter school that provided a “best of both worlds” approach – combining Personalized Learning (Homeschool) with site based classes. Cottonwood Creek Charter School had its initial petition approved by the Cottonwood Union School District in March of 2010, and the school opened its doors to students in August of that same year.
